HKU Forum on the 2008 US Presidential Election

The 2008 presidential election in the United States is one of the most exciting political events of the year -- it is the first one in 80 years when no sitting president or vice president is running for the presidency, making it one of the most wide-open races. The campaign for the presidency has been the longest and will be the most expensive in US history. Whoever going to be elected will make history -- Barrack Obama as the first African American President, and John McCain as the oldest first term president. The outcome of the election will have far reaching implications not only for the US but also internationally at a particularly turbulent time for the world both politically and economically.

As the campaign for the election reaches its final phase, the Department of Politics and Public Administration and the Centre of Development and Resources for Students at the University of Hong Kong are jointly organizing a public forum, to analyse the election and its implications. In addition to examining the election and its possible outcome and implications, the forum will also feature presentations by supporters of the two camps.
