A new scheme to promote students' interest in service learning and family values, the "Gallant Ho Service Learning Scheme - Family Values", will be set up at the University to help to develop in our young people a greater sense of social responsibility and appreciation of family values. Following the launching of the scheme, HKU's Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) will be able to organize service learning programmes in the next five years.
A launching ceremony will be held on September 15 (Tuesday), Mr. Gallant Ho, donor of the scheme and an HKU alumnus; and HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui will officiate at the event. Following the Launching Ceremony, a Dialogue on Service Learning will be held to discuss the characteristics of service learning, how community organizations and universities can collaborate to promote it, and how it relates to students.
