Jockey Club Children Oral Health Project - Oral Health Promotion Roadshow Launch Ceremony and Fun Day

Organised by the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Jockey Club Children Oral Health Project (JCCOHP) will host an oral health promotion roadshow in districts with higher rates of tooth decay among preschool children. Through a series of exhibitions and interactive activities, the initiative aims to encourage children to establish lasting dental care habits. A launch ceremony and fun day will be held on 29 July to celebrate the commencement of the JCCOHP oral health promotion roadshow.

The JCCOHP was launched in 2019 with the aim of screening local preschool children for tooth decay, managing existing cavities and preventing further decay.  The first phase of the project concluded in 2022/23,  which provided more than 190,000 oral examinations for students in more than 750 kindergartens in Hong Kong, and silver diamine fluoride treatment for 230,000 cases of tooth decay. building on the project’s success, the Trust extended its support for the second phase of the project, starting in the 2023/24 school year, aiming to provide free services in kindergartens and promote the importance of oral health in the community.
